“Family Guy” (1999-2003; 2005-)

Babies can definitely be ornery, but Stewie is a special case. When “Family Guy” first premiered, the youngest member of the Griffin clan quickly became the most popular. Although Stewie has the intelligence to craft some diabolical schemes, fate always gets in the way. And his tirades against the human members of his family are treated more like cute tantrums than actual threats. Newer seasons of “Family Guy” have downplayed Stewie’s dreams of world domination, but he can still be thrown into a rage under the right circ*mstances, or should we say, the wrong ones.

“Regular Show” (2010-17)

Being a boss can be stressful, especially when you have to deal with employees like Mordecai and Rigby. But even so, Benson could stand to learn a few things about controlling his rage. A gumball machine who also manages The Park on “Regular Show,” Benson has a short fuse that only seems to get shorter with time. While he can definitely be calm, friendly, and even sentimental, once something sets Benson off, it takes a while for him to cool down. Beneath all the anger and yelling is genuine caring between him and his employees. And though he's fired them multiple times, Mordecai and Rigby always seem to find their way back to their jobs.

“The Amazing World of Gumball” (2011-19)

Running a household can test the patience of even the most happy-go-lucky individuals. That’s doubly true when you’re part of a family like the Wattersons. As the Watterson family matriarch, Nicole has to deal with all kinds of frustrating antics. For example, there’s the time her husband, Richard, sent their two young sons down to a gas station at night to buy her a birthday present. It’s unsurprising that she’s quick to anger, but Nicole’s rage is based in love. And she’ll do anything she can to protect her family, even if it requires her to get a little mean with others.

“The Ren & Stimpy Show” (1991-96)

Great comedic duos are built on contrasting personas. And there’s no better foil for cheerful cat Stimpy than this furious chihuahua. Ren is definitely the smarter of the two, but his rage, cruelty, and selfishness are a lethal combination. He's even gone as far as trying to kill Stimpy, just because Stimpy is more popular. And let's not forget how quick he is to physically assault Stimpy or call him an "eediot." But, like many angry animated characters, Ren does have a soft spot. It's just one that's especially hard to find at times.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2012-17)

The Hulk isn’t the only green superhero with anger issues. Raphael's fighting abilities make him a key member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Unfortunately, his temper might be holding them back a bit. With his fiery red mask, the twin-sai wielding turtle’s maddened and aggressive attitude is a feature in all his incarnations. But we’ve chosen to explore his character in this particular iteration of the "TMNT" series where Raph's anger often gets the best of him. If he feels wronged by anyone, he's ready for a fight. But he also treats others poorly, showing how he can be both someone who oppresses and hypocritical. Despite all this, Raph cares about his brothers and keeping them safe. However, he could benefit from being a little more emotionally open, and a lot less quick to anger.

Among Disney characters, Donald Duck holds the record for most film appearances. But that's not enough to calm down this fiery waterfowl. While Donald usually starts off his adventures optimistic, misfortune quickly occurs, leaving him fuming. Pretty soon, he's going on some scary tirades, even though we can't quite make out what he's saying. However, there’s a case to be made for his anger, as it does seem to help him focus in scary situations. And despite being consistently knocked down, Donald Duck always gets up again. Now, isn't that something we can all admire?

There are many intense members of the “Looney Tunes” cast, including the Tasmanian Devil and Daffy Duck, but none are quite as temperamental as Yosemite Sam. The pistol-wielding outlaw's rage and intense hatred for rabbits make him the perfect antagonist for Bugs Bunny. Sam’s red eyebrows and mustache perfectly illustrate the constant fury boiling inside of him. But the clever Bugs always manages to outsmart the furious Sam, who thinks with his guns instead of his head. In his many roles, including cowboy, pirate, Viking, and prison guard, Sam has been consistently furious, and consistently hilarious.

“SpongeBob SquarePants” (1999- )

SpongeBob SquarePants has brought joy to the lives of countless people. However, that doesn’t include Squidward Tentacles, who mainly sees SpongeBob as his annoying neighbor and coworker. And when dimwitted starfish Patrick is in the mix, Squidward’s patience is tested further. With his artistic career going nowhere and his neighbors constantly driving him up the wall, we see why Squidward is grouchy. But while he’s prone to some cruel behavior, Squidward knows how to set things right. The older we get, the more we understand Squidward, and the more we wish him some peace and quiet.

For some characters on this list, their anger has some moral justification. That’s not the case with Eric Cartman, whose anger is only outpaced by his immorality. Despite only being in elementary school, Cartman has the personality of a middle-aged bigot, regularly insulting his peers with hurtful remarks. This also includes his apparent friends, like Kyle and Kenny. And when we say that Cartman's rage can be deadly, we're not exaggerating. We don’t know exactly where Cartman’s anger - or his other negative qualities - came from, but we do know he’s been making us laugh for decades.
