Housing

Colorado Springs is experiencing tremendous growth. All five military installations in the Colorado Springs area have privatized their housing operations. Contact your government Housing Military Office (HMO), at your current base as soon as you know you are moving to Colorado Springs area. The government housing team will provide you with the latest information about privatized housing, details about the application process, and off-base housing options. The HMO will also update you on any base specific policies. Members returning from remote overseas tours will receive retroactive credit, but certain qualifying conditions apply. Privatized Housing Resident Advocate - This office is available if you have any issues with Housing on Peterson Space Force Base. They can be reached by calling 719-728-9278 or P-SGAR.CVH.PHRA@us.af.mil.

Dorm Occupancy

Peterson SFB has a high occupancy rate!! Please call or ask your sponsor to call at least three weeks before you arrive. The Dorm Manager and personnel can be reached at 719-556-3832/1409.

School Tips for Parents

Vehicle Registration, New Resident Requirements, Voting, and Driver's Licenses

**If you register to vote at the El Paso DMV, you will revoke your current residence and will become a Colorado resident. If you don't want to change residency and wish to vote in your current state, please visit Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP).**

Passports and Visas

Ensure member and/or dependents have the required passports and/or visa prior to final out-processing. Member and/or dependents are not allowed to final out-process without the required passports/visas in hand for themselves (if applicable) and/or dependents. Members electing the accompanied tour will not be permitted to out-process without having the required passports/visas in hand for themselves (if applicable) and/or dependents.

These actions are necessary to prevent unforeseen hardships for the military members and their families. Therefore, as the last reiteration, it is essential, members do not out-process without having the appropriate passports/visas for themselves (if applicable) and/or dependents.

  • Space is limited (especially with pets) at the Temporary Lodging Facility. There are one and two bedroom TLF units with fully-equipped kitchens and sleeping accommodations to support 4 to 7 individuals. Some rooms can accommodate pets.Call Toll Free 888-235-6343 , Ext 738, 719-556-7851 or DSN 312-834-7851 to make reservations as soon as your arrival date is known.
  • You are entitled to 20 Hours of free child care with a certified on-base daycare provider within 60 days of arrival. Please contact the Peterson Militaryand Family Readiness Center to obtain a certificate of eligibility.
  • Avoid Finance Debts and have your travel voucher completed within thirty days of your PCS. If you need information or assistance, contact the Peterson Finance Office as soon as possible. Call 719-556-4770 or DSN: 834-4770.
  • The Loan Locker is co-located with the Airman's Attic across the street from the Youth Center in building 1525. The Loan Locker has many items available for PCS loan, or for a guest loan in case of need. Items include futons, pots and pan sets, dish sets, car seats, infant play pens, lamps, alarm clocks, small appliances, just about anything you need prior to/after a PCS or for an event! Contact the Loan Locker at 719-556-7614 or the Military and Family Readiness Centerat719-556-6141 to use this service.
  • The Airman's Attic is generally open Monday thru Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.and open for Airmen E5 and below. Uniform items are available for ALL active duty, reserve, and national guard ranks. Defense Service NetworkDialing Instructions

The DSN is the provider of long-distance communications service for the Department of Defense. Every installation has a special DSN number and the numbers vary by world-wide location. In order to place a call using DSN, the caller must be using a military phone on an installation. Cell phones cannot dial DSN numbers. When dialing a DSN number from a United States installation to another United States installation, it is NOT necessary to dial the DSN 312 area code. When dialing a DSN number to/from overseas locations, the DSN area code must be included. The operator can be reached at commercial 719-556-4555. Please note that long distance charges may be incurred.
