Simon Warren I'm resharing your post as it's a highly important point that should be discussed more often.Indemnity periods on project risks where DSU is insured should be reviewed meticulously, with disastrous scenarios in mind and accurate projections for the time taken by any litigation, surveys, debris removal and then rebuild periods.Too often the indemnity periods seen by underwriters are woefully inadequate which can be down to a variety of reasons but will leave the insured at a loss should the worst happen.Even more so where there is an existing structure to take into account as well, where a small project operational start date could be dragged out for a substantial amount of time whilst the structure is reinstated.#construction #brokers #insurance #constructioninsurance #businessinterruption #dsu #allianz #propertyinsurance

walking around in Europe this week and the Efterling theme park is having some major construction work carried out so I thought I'd check it out. The new modular hotel is going up fast with several cranes working on lifting facade sections into place. Of course this is all being carried out by the three little pigs and I loved this theming of the project at such a fantastic landmark.This will be the biggest hotel in the park and is a grand project shifting 10,000 SQM of earth and involving over 40 metres of steel sheet piling before 6 kilometres of piles were installed in the ground to carry 2,500 SQM of concrete foundation for the 7 storey hotel.I love seeing projects like this going up, as they give such a fascinating insight into different types of construction as well as an opportunity to bore the people I'm with who are stuck in a queue with me.#modularconstruction #construction #brokers #constructioninsurance #insurance #allianz #knowledgesharing

I really enjoyed being part of the #Allianz Hackathon team this week in Guildford and was amongst some very clever people. Certainly moreso than I!I'll not use the usual corporate buzzwords and lose my audience but it felt like Challenge Anneka at times throughout the day ending with Dragons Den!If anything it has proved how powerful raw data can be to a business and I look forward to seeing where this goes #innovation #ideasharing #insurance #constructioninsurance #brokers #knowledgesharing

A topic that was recently highlighted around the exposure to and health concerns around silicosis as a result of cutting engineered stone.Australia banned the use of engineered stone products and the disease is irreversible much like the effects as a result of exposure to asbestos fibres.The article, whilst a snapshot, discusses the exposure in the UK including a rise in cases over the last 20 years locally and globally.The HSE updated their information on silicosis late last year which can be found here;https://lnkd.in/e6qhiunuDust and particle control on any work site is highly important both for those working with materials and those third parties who could be exposed to the dust too.
